Site-trailer IT in a box — connecting 9 active job sites with one repeatable rollout
Construction · Ipswich, with sites across SE QLD · 65 staff, 9 active sites
The Challenge
A growing Ipswich civil contractor was winning bigger jobs across Lockyer Valley, Beaudesert and the Sunshine Coast, but every new site required ad-hoc IT setup. Foremen were hot-spotting from their phones, plans were being shared on USB sticks, and the head office had no visibility into what was happening on site. Two laptops had been lost in the past year with project plans on them.
What We Did
We designed a 'Site IT in a Box' kit that contains a ruggedised 5G/4G router with priority SIM, a managed Wi-Fi access point, a small UPS, and a pre-configured Surface device. Every site gets the exact same kit, takes 20 minutes to deploy on day one, and connects automatically into the head office VPN with full visibility from our monitoring platform. All site devices are encrypted, MDM-enrolled, and remotely wipeable. Plans, photos and daily diaries sync to SharePoint automatically.
"Before, every new site was a fresh headache. Now I tell the boys 'open the kit, plug it in, you're online.' The first time we lost a laptop after the rollout I called the team in a panic and they wiped it before I'd hung up."
