Two clinic sites unified on a single secure cloud platform — zero downtime cutover
Healthcare · Springfield · 8 GPs, 14 staff, 2 sites
The Challenge
A Springfield GP practice with a second site at Brookwater was running two completely independent Best Practice servers. Records didn't sync, doctors couldn't see appointments at the other location, and patient files had to be emailed between sites — a clear breach risk under the Privacy Act. Their on-premises servers were both out of warranty and the Brookwater site had suffered a power-related outage that took clinical software down for most of a Wednesday.
What We Did
We designed a Best Practice Cloud architecture with a single shared database hosted in an Australian sovereign cloud, dedicated business-grade fibre at both sites with automatic 5G failover, conditional access tied to clinic-supplied devices only, and end-to-end encryption for all patient data in transit and at rest. The cutover was performed over a Saturday night with both sites operational by 7am Monday. We also delivered Privacy Act and My Health Record alignment training for all clinical and reception staff.
"Our doctors can now log in at either site and see every patient as if they're at one practice. That alone changed how we deliver care. The security uplift was the part our practice manager was worried about — the team handled all of it."
